Headbands of Hope was founded by Jessica Ekstrom after her summer internship as a photographer at Disneyworld. She captured photos of kids visiting from various wish-granting organizations and noticed many enjoyed wearing headbands after losing their hair during chemotherapy. After some research, Jessica noticed there weren’t any businesses that donated headbands to kids battling cancer—only wigs and hats. That’s when she founded Headbands of Hope. A decade later, Headbands of Hope has donated headbands to every children’s hospital in America and to 22 countries. For every headband sold, one is donated to a child battling illness.
